Examination – System of Evaluation
The evaluation system at Bharathi Vidya Mandir Matric Higher Secondary School is structured to ensure continuous monitoring of a student’s academic progress and to promote regular study habits. The performance of students in all subjects is assessed throughout the year through a Continuous Assessment System, including class tests, assignments, projects, and term examinations.
General Examination Guidelines
- All students from L.K.G. to Class XII will appear for Terminal Examinations at the end of each term.
- Monthly test portions and schedules will be communicated in advance by the respective class teachers.
- Students must be punctual and well-prepared for all assessments.
- Any student absent without a valid reason during Monthly or Terminal Examinations will be
- marked absent and considered to have failed in that subject. No re-examinations will be conducted under any circumstance.
Additional Guidelines
- Internal assessments, monthly tests, class participation, and terminal examination results are also taken into consideration for final promotion decisions.
- Students failing to meet the minimum promotion criteria may be required to repeat the class, as per the discretion of the Principal and the academic committee.
- In special cases, promotion may be granted on a conditional basis with appropriate support measures, if deemed necessary by the school authorities.
- Regular attendance, discipline, and participation in co-curricular activities also influence the holistic evaluation process.
Penalties During Examination
To maintain discipline and presentation standards, 5 marks will be deducted from the day's paper for the following violations:
- Late attendance
- Wearing an unironed or untidy uniform
- Uncombed hair
- Unpolished shoes
- Wearing an improper or incomplete uniform
- Use of micro tip / ballpoint pens
- Untidy or careless presentation of the answer paper
- Not carrying or wearing the school ID card
Disciplinary Action for Malpractice
- Cheating in any form during examinations is a serious offence.
- Students found indulging in malpractice will be:
- Awarded zero in the specific paper.
- Suspended from writing the remaining examinations.
- The same punishment applies to both the student who copies and the one who assists.
We encourage parents to help students stay consistent in their study schedules and maintain discipline during the assessment periods. Regular preparation, honesty, and presentation are key to a successful academic journey at BVM.
Promotion Rules
Promotion to the next higher class at Bharathi Vidya Mandir Matric Higher Secondary School is based on a student’s consistent academic performance throughout the academic year, with special emphasis on the Annual Examination.
Minimum Criteria for Promotion
- A student must secure a minimum of 33% marks in each subject individually.
- In addition, the student must attain an overall aggregate of at least 40% in the Annual Examination.
Stationery Requirements
- Only fountain pens with blue ink are to be used for all examinations.
- Micro tip and ballpoint pens are strictly prohibited. If used, they will be confiscated and not returned.
- Neatness and clarity in the presentation of answer scripts are expected at all times.
Parents are requested to support their wards in maintaining consistent academic progress and discipline throughout the year to ensure successful promotion.
